THE HOLY RELIC OF St.GREGORIOS OF PARUMALA
The Holy Relic of St. Gregorios of Parumala was installed at our church, on November 11, 2011 by Metropolitan H.G. Paulose Mar Pachomius of Mavelikara Diocese in the presence of Metropolitan H.G Zachariah Mar Anthonios of Kollam Diocese.
Members of the church gave a rousing reception to the Holy Relics of St. Gregorios of Parumala on November 11th Friday evening while it reached the Church.
The Holy relic was carried by the Church Vicar Fr V.G Koshy Vaidhyan, Thevelakkara, from Parumala, which was handed over by the Parumala Seminary Manager Yuhanon Ramban. The Holy relic of “Parumala Thirumeni” was placed in the special place constructed in the Church.
A shrine is a holy place, which is dedicated to our saints, at which they are worshipped. We have 9 shrines and it is placed around the church and they are,
2. St. George Kurishadi, East of the church, Nallila.
3. St. George Kurishadi, Nallila Junction, Nallila.
4. St. George Kurishadi, Aalmaavu mukku, Nallila.
5. St.George Kurishadi, Pazhagaalam mukku, Nallila.
6. Mar gregorious Kurishadi, South of church, Nallila.
7. St Marys Kurishadi, Transformer Junction, Nallila.
8. Matha Kurishadi, Matha Junction, Nallila.
9. St Marys Kurishadi, Bethel Junction, Nallila.
There are 5 altars (Madbahas) at bethel church. The main madbaha, the central one, this is used for regular services of the church.
There are 2 altars on the north and south of the main one. The altar on the northern side is consecrated to st George’s and the altar on the southern side is consecrated in the name of mar gregorious (Parumala Thirumeni).
There are two smaller altars, to the front of the main altar. The north among these is in the name of St. Mary. The southern among the small altars is consecrated to St. Thomas
STONE CROSS (KALKURISH)
This cross cut from stone, which has carvings of saints and angels, is a main attraction and shelter for the pilgrims visiting the church. It is said that whoever prays here, is immediately rewarded. Heartfelt prayers of the pilgrims are heard and showered with blessings. Some even have a vision of Geevarghese Sahada (Bethel Parishudhan). Those who prayed by lighting candles on near the Kalkurish were granted their petitions, without delay.
FLAG POLE (KODI MARAM)
The church has constructed a Flag pole is made up of stone with financial support of the church members. It is situated in the north west part of church. This exists as an honour to bethel church, Nallila.
BELL TOWERS (MANIMEDA)
The bell tower is situated in the south–west area of our church. This bell weights 200 kg and its sound is audible up to 3 kilometres.
Bethel St.George Church Choir is started on September 1995 to improve hymns in the “Holy Qurbana” Service; the choir is leading the congregation singing hymns now so that the worship could be heavenly. The choir members associate themselves with other related activities, such as, conventions and contribute their mite to enrich the programmes.
BETHEL POOR FUND
More than ten percent of the income of the parish is expended on charity. Financial support is extended for meeting the expenses towards medical treatments, houses for poor families, marriages, schooling, self employment ventures, etc., to the needy.
A well furnished house was made available for the serving priest and his family. The building is located in the North West side of the church.
PARISH DAY(EDAVAKA DHINAM)
Bethel St. George Orthodox Church in Nallila celebrated its anniversary as the parish day on May 1st in every year along with the feast of the St. George.
During the 50 days of fasting (valiya nombu), with the help of all the concerned members and believers of the church, corner meetings were conducted in every prayer groups. Then many versatile orators deliver speech with moral and religious values.
